Chapters

1

Introduction

In this chapter, we will describe the importance of neonatal point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). We highlight how neonatal anatomy and physiology are different than children and adults. The neonatal uniqueness deserves a separate dedicated POCUS class.

2

Cardiac

In this chapter, we will talk about basic neonatal cardiac POCUS views, LV systolic function, fluid assessment, umbilical venous catheter position, and pericardial effusion.

3

Lung

In this chapter, we will introduce you to neonatal lung ultrasound, discuss how to perform neonatal lung ultrasound, and cover neonatal lung ultrasound clinical applications.

4

Abdomen

In this chapter, we will introduce you to neonatal abdominal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided paracentesis, and neonatal bladder ultrasound.

5

Brain

In this chapter, we will cover emergent cranial ultrasound - anatomy & pathology.

6

Spine

This chapter will cover basic spinal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided lumbar puncture.

7

Putting it together

Let's put all your learned skills into one scanning protocol for common POCUS applications.
