Thyroid Ultrasound – Spot the problem Part 3

 

Here is another quick teaching tip! An incidental finding during thyroid ultrasound: A large nodule 32x28x23mm in the right lobe. What would you do? Do you need to worry? 

This patient should be sent to FNA Biopsy. There is a risk of malignancy; the nodule is larger than 25mm, and it also shows TIRADS criteria on ultrasound related to a high risk of malignancy. Ultimately, the patient was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
