What you will learn

Coronary artery disease is one of the most common indications for echocardiography. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most challenging topics to master. This chapter provides valuable tips to assess wall motion abnormalities, quantify left ventricular function (including strain/speckle tracking imaging), and demonstrate how to differentiate ischemic from dilated cardiomyopathy complications. As in the other chapters, we provide many examples and background knowledge relevant to acute coronary syndromes and chronic coronary artery disease. Topics covered:

• Segmental models

• Coronary blood supply

• Detection / classification of mall motion abnormalities

• States of perfusion

• Patterns of MCI

• Remodeling

• Complications of MCI

• Strain / Speckle Tracking Imaging
